Bulk Mails

Bulk folder in yahoo is very efficient and many times I wonder what would happen if I had not turned my bulk settings on. However , few good mails also go in bulk folder, which is what I am writing about.

3 years back, one of my friend's e-mail was in bulk folder, the reason I guess is his e-mail id from a startup company, which is mistaken for spam. Right after that, I check my bulk folder once a week, and always had found few good mails mistaken for spam.

This week, one of the replies I received from my potential employer was in bulk, the reason I guess the subject of the e-mail goes like this : Abwesenheitsnotiz: .....(Absent notice in German)

I can only say this :nooru kuttravaali thandikapadama irukalam, aana oru nirabarathi thandikka pada koodathu. ..lol..

I wish the spam settings could be more efficient.

Better the communication, higher the loneliness!!

The title says it all !!

In olden days, people travelled for 2 days just to reach the next city. Now, we can reach the other side of the globe in 2 days. Communications has improved a great deal by telephone, internet etc., but we got separated a great deal too!

Inspite of the continuous growth in telecommunications, the loneliness in peoples mind grows proportionally as well !

Surprising but fact ; Better the communication, higher the loneliness!!

First language

A bharathanatyam artist interviewed during Vanakkam thamilagam talks all Tamil and no English. Now, Whatz up with that? ..........He is born and brought up in America, and his father is an American. He returned to India to sacrifice his life to art, and to follow the tradition his ancestors had saved for 8 generations. .......and his language had no english slang, and was better than the tv host.

The south African who acted in the movie Iyartkai answered in Tamil for a TV interview.

Aishwarya Rai in a american talk show, answered a question saying, " I can speak Hindi, marati, my mother tongue tulu and broken Tamil"

Even Nameetha is seen talking Tamil these days..(unbearable , but lets appreciate her interest)

But, I dont understand why Trisha cannot speak?...The reason she says is 'I am convent brought up, so I feel comfortable talking in Tamil'. How many % of us are convent educated and where does her argument leads to?

I also wonder what is about all the people who is introducing themselves in TV channels, (like Ilamai puthumai, thanga vaettai, neengal ketta paadal etc.,) always says, " My name is narmada, I am a housewife"..."My name is aruchaamy, I am working in a private concern"

English Titles

Is it compulsory that all movies in regional languages should carry English titles as well?

Last weekend, Sun TV screened the movie Yei, starring Sarathkumar.

First came a title in Tamil, and later in English ...and guess what it is ??

Now, you know what I am talking about.

Arasudamai

I noted a difference in language when I was reading ...First I thought, I might have lost touch with Tamil, particularly the ones spoken in olden days as I was reading a history novel. The history happened during 7th century and this novel was written in 1944. So I kept reading and I felt something not so comfortable about few words, which are not in my dictionary. I again thought this could be a word from the brahmin culture as the author is a brahmin and I may not know all the words they speak. I finished all the four episodes of the novel, with the same thought.

Only when I started reading an other tamil shortstory collections, did i notice that the sentences keep repeating themselves, and there were so much printing errors. Then I realised something, all the words that I thought werent making any sense with the previous novels were outcome of the same printing/ editing errors.

This is all because, recently all these books carry something similar in the second page..."arasudamai aakkapatta pathippu.....rubaai 180-kku vitkum intha puthagam ippothu 120 mattum"............Govt-nnu sonnavae mistakes-um koodavae varumo?

P.S: I am not totally against this. There is a good part of this, which I love. Previously these books used to be like little pillows and 4 parts of that would cover a complete shelf. Now these "arasudamai aakapatta" editions are very small, handly and can fit your handbags...and they are cheap too....I love all these and would vote for this, if only they'll show more attention for editing.
