Stars & Salaries

I was reading a issue of last month kumudam, which lists our Tamil Stars Salary as below:

  • Ajith: 300 (In Lakhs)
  • Vijay: 400
  • Kamal: 500
  • Rajni: 2000

I dont understand what Vijay does to be just a little lower than our talented Kamalhassan, but lets just talk about the salaries. Even the lowest salary in the list will buy a small flat in world's most expensive cities. Remember, its one flat per movie.

Keanu Reeves was paid only $10Million for Matrix, but Rajni gets $4.5Million. But Tamil films are made in average of 3 months, whereas Hollywood films take almost a year to complete. Does that mean we make more money than most hollywood? May be ..

Vadivel's salary is 25lac per day, and if he manages to have his callsheets filled up for a whole month(not difficult for him these days), he makes 750lac per month, which is $1.6M per month ??

The president of the University where I graduated from,(not the highest in list) makes around $4Million a year, which is not too bad a comparison with a hollywood actor. The highest salary in Hollywood is around $25Million and 4Million is 6times less than that. But the highest salary any President of a University in India per year; It may never exceed 20lac?? which is 100times in magnitude lower than Rajni's (quarterly) salary??

We have a lot like this in India which others have already mentioned & blogged abt...

I am just adding one more point to these notes.

Pepperoni & Idli

There was some yoga lecture going on inside temple premises yesterday. So, there was a lot of american crowd. One little boy with his mother came to the canteen to buy some food. After much thought he choosed to eat idli. ( poori, lemon rice etc were other choices). Now, he wants to know how spicy is the chutney. The girl who serves replies, "not too bad". The boy is still suspicious.

To make him better understand, she goes, "Have you tasted pepperoni? Its just that spicy". Now, her mom (maami) who was in the kitchen all this time, shows up and she asked her daughter with surprise..."nee engadi pepperoni saapta?".....It was fun to watch the high school girl trying to manage.

"India Struggle to catch china"

Check this out !!

Also considering into factors that:

1. we are 1/3rd of land size compared to china and we have worst infrastructure for this population density.
2. All economists whose writings are based upon the IT sector should consider that this may not be the case in the future. These days there are IT industries in Maldovia and there are call centers in China.
